How to Go Solar in ECT

  • The Board of Supervisors has adopted a solar zoning section in the Township's Code of Ordinances to guide the solar process
  • In order to receive permission to build or install your solar installation, you must apply for an obtain a permit. Check out the following checklists for obtaining solar permits (called Alternative Energy System (AES) Permits) in East Cocalico Township. Note that Solar Plus applications require a Mechnical, Electrical or Plumbing (MEP) Permit. 
  • In order to turn on your installation once it is built or installed, a least one inspection, often more, is required by the Township. To schedule an inspection of your solar installation, please call Technicon Enterprises II at (610)-286-1622. Further instructions are available on your permit.

Financing and Incentive Options for Solar

There are a few different financing options for solar in East Cocalico Township. The following are some of the publicly-available funding and incentive options for solar. 

  • Lancaster County C-PACE: A program available for commercial, industrial and agricultural property owners to finance solar installations 
  • PA's Solar Energy Program (SEP) Grant: A grant available to businesses, economic development organizations and political subdivisions for activities to promote the generation and use of solar energy and the manufacture or assembly of solar equipment
  • Solar Energy Systems Tax Credit: A federal program that provides tax credits for using solar energy
